How to Download X Videos on iPhone
Published: September 18, 2026 by Andrew Apell
X has no native Save button in the app for most posts. On iPhone you can still save a public X video cleanly with a browser. Copy the link, paste in Media Wrangler, preview the metadata, then download the MP4 to Files.
This guide shows the Safari flow. Chrome on iPhone works the same way, with one extra Share step.
Step 1: Copy the public X link
Open X, find the post, tap Share then Copy Link. Use the direct post URL, not a search result or an embedded timeline link. The link should look like
x.com/username/status/123
or
twitter.com
. If the post does not open in a private browsing tab without login, it is not public and Media Wrangler will not handle it.
Quick check: paste the link in Safari Private Mode. If you see the video without logging in, it is public.
Step 2: Paste in Media Wrangler and preview
Open
Media Wrangler
in Safari. Paste the link in the input, leave quality on
SD - free
for a test, then tap Preview. You will see title, thumbnail, duration and extractor before you spend anything.
Preview is free and requires no account. It also shows which heights the source actually provides.
Step 3: Download and find the file
Choose quality and tap Download. SD is free. 720p costs 2 credits, 1080p costs 3, MP3 costs 2. Credits never expire.
On iPhone with Safari the file lands in
Files > Downloads
. Open Files, long-press the MP4, tap Share, then Save Video to move it to Photos if you want it in Camera Roll. In Chrome the file opens in the browser first : tap Share then Save to Files.
| Browser | Where the file lands | Extra step |
|---|---|---|
| Safari | Files > Downloads | Share > Save Video to Photos |
| Chrome | Opens in tab, then Files | Share > Save to Files |
Common iPhone issues
- Download button does nothing: you pasted a non-public link or a profile link. Copy the single post link.
- Video is SD only: the source only uploaded SD. Requesting 1080p will return the highest available and cost by what is delivered, not what you requested.
- No preview: the link is private, deleted or age-gated. Ask for a public repost.

FAQ
Where does the video save on iPhone? In Files under Downloads. Move to Photos via Share > Save Video.
Do I need an app? No. Media Wrangler is a web app. Paste the public X link and download.
Why does Save fail? The post is not public or requires login. Use the incognito test.
