How to Download TikTok Videos Without Watermark
Published: September 18, 2026 by Andrew Apell
TikTok’s Save button deliberately burns a watermark with the logo and @handle. That’s attribution. If you need a clean file for your own content or permitted reuse, you need the source MP4, not a crop.
TikTok serves two files on the CDN: the clean upload and the watermarked save. Good tools request the clean one; bad tools crop the watermarked one.
Step 1: Get the correct TikTok link
Tap Share then Copy Link. Use the full
tiktok.com/@user/video/123
or the short
vm.tiktok.com/XXXX
. Do not use a profile link. For your own videos, keep your master export before posting : that is always higher quality than re-downloading.
Step 2: Paste in Media Wrangler and preview
Open Media Wrangler , paste, tap Preview. You see thumbnail, duration and heights. If heights only shows 720p, requesting 1080p will still return 720p. SD is free to preview.
Step 3: Save clean when allowed
For your own or permitted public videos, choose quality and Download. Media Wrangler requests the source file before the watermark overlay. If preview says the video is private or restricted, it will not return a file.
Legal note: downloading your own video is fine. Saving someone else’s public video for personal offline viewing is low risk; reposting without permission is infringement even with credit. See legal guide .
Why some tools still show a watermark
- Cropped or screen-recorded saves reuse the watermarked file.
- Some downloaders inject their own mark when TikTok changes the CDN.
- Private or Friends-only posts never have a clean public file.
